Biography
Dr. Kushani De Silva obtained her PhD in Disaster Management (UK) with a special emphasis on Disaster and Climate Risk Reduction (including CBRNE), global security, strategic risk reduction, technologically sound risk information systems, and gender-sensitive early warning systems. She has a Master’s Degree in Gender studies specializing in gender equity and vulnerability reduction and a Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture Technology specializing in sustainable agriculture secure use of agrochemicals, dual-use chemicals, and agrochemical security.
She is globally trained in diplomatic implementing disarmament treaties with special training at the T.M.C Asser Institute, Netherlands, and studied the Application of Space Technology in Risk Reduction at the Centre for Space Science and Technology Education in Asia and the Pacific (CSSTEAP), India. Also, completed global research as a principal investigator in the fields of security risk reduction, strategic risk reduction, disarmament, and counter-proliferation of weapons of mass destruction and with journal publications
Serve as a lead Subject Matter Expert, at CRDF Global and successfully implemented U.S. State Department-funded programmes also continue to be the founder/CEO Gloir. K. She is an Advisor to the Asian Institute CEED Asia, and a Governing Council member Centre for Women’s Research. Also, serves as a resource person/trainer in International Chemical Safety and Security programmes conducted by the Organisation for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons Convention (OPCW), a former Human Rights Officer/ Programme Development Officer, at UNDP, a reviewer of three international journals, and an author of 50 plus publications.
